Beekeeping Library Collection at Greenville Public Library

Since 2016, the Greenville Public Library has been the repository for Rhode Island Beekeepers Association's book collection. Like many bee clubs, our library consisted of little more than a few dozen worn-out copies of the standard beginner/general interest texts. As part of our commitment to the ongoing education of local beekeepers, the decision was made to drastically improve both the quality and quantity of the books in our collection. Rhode Island Beekeepers Association makes an annual gift of a carefully chosen selection of new publications to augment the library's holdings. In the first five years, the collection grew to more than a hundred unique titles, with multiple copies of several key texts. Bilingual and Spanish language titles are available, as well as E-books.

The initial endowment was based on the recommended reading list for the Eastern Apiculture Society's Master Beekeeper exams. It is our hope that by making this material easily accessible, we can help more of our members prepare themselves for a Master Beekeeper program. We're proud of the quality of this collection, which includes works on all aspects of bee culture: biology, queen rearing, wax crafting, general management, alternative hive types, disease, native bees, and much more. New titles are added every year and are available to be borrowed by the public as well as Rhode Island Beekeepers Association members.

The physical collection is available at:
